Saigon, November 2026: The Notebook on the Touchline at Cộng Hòa Stadium

5:48 a.m., November 14, 2026. Cộng Hòa Stadium was still wet from the night rain. The smell of young grass mixed with the smell of medicated oil drifting from the row of seats on Stand B. I sat in the third row, opened my second notebook — the one I use only for numbers — and wrote the first line: "5:51 a.m., eleven players walk onto the pitch, nobody says a word."
