Vietnamese Sports and the Disease of Data-Free Analysis

A document labeled “deep professional analysis” landed on my desk this morning. Nine major sections, dozens of evaluation rows, and yet not one tournament name, player name, game patch, or statistical figure. The entire document repeated a single sentence: cannot be determined, insufficient information. Vietnamese sports media suffers from the same disease: producing commentary without evidence, publishing transfer rumors without verified contracts, and praising teams without checking expected goals or passing data. I have spent twenty-two years watching Vietnamese sports and esports, and I believe the market is not short of talented writers. It is short of an independent data infrastructure. Clubs and game publishers hold the data but have no obligation to release it. Journalists lack access, so they rely on speculation. We need a professional code based on verifiable sources, public match archives, and standardized player records. Writers must refuse to turn empty documents into headlines. The first battle is not for clicks. It is for credibility. Vietnamese sports will grow only when reporters are free to check the numbers and willing to say no when the numbers do not exist.
